“HEALTH, HANDS, HEARTS, & HEADS HELPING WISHES COME TRUE”
Hello:
We are writing to ask for your assistance on behalf of the “Warm Fuzzies 4-H Club” and “Giddy Up Go Riders 4-H Club” with one of our 2008 community service projects. We came together and formed “Kids 4 Kids” and are sponsoring a benefit to aid the “Dayton Children’s Medical Center” and “A Special Wish Foundation” Springfield, Ohio Chapter.
Our 4H groups do more than just raise animals for the fair; we do a lot of community service. In the past we have raised funds to replace sports equipment at our local 4-H camp. We have also gotten by request of the local extension office a portable PA system and a LCD projector. The cost of both items exceeded $2,000 total but we raised it. We have also painted over 300 trash can barrels and barricades for the county fairgrounds reducing their labor costs. We helped with the funding and installation of fans in the sheep and rabbit barns at our local fairgrounds. We raised over $1,500.00 for the Saint Jude’s Children's Hospital. We really push community service and helping others. (See attachment titled “Community Service”)
We have two members of our group that are a little special. Shianne West is a Leukemia survivor, and the other member Dylan Cooper suffers from Myocarditis, both utilized the services of “Dayton Children’s Medical Center and they both were also granted a special wish by our local chapter of “A Special Wish Foundation.” I have enclosed a bio on both of them. They have both been a blessing to me and the entire group. Dylan just recently had his “Special Wish” granted. His aunt, whom is his guardian, described the trip as the closest thing to heaven that she could imagine here on earth.
“HEALTH, HANDS, HEARTS, and HEADS, HELPING WISHES COME TRUE” is the theme of our benefit scheduled for June 21, 2008 (event flyer attached). The kids will be getting pledges for each mile they trail ride their horse, raft down the river in a canoe, walk or run the trail at the state park where the event will take place. 100% of the money pledged will go to the organizations. This is where I need your assistance.
I have attached a copy of the promotion board (attachment “Promo Board”) that I am going to construct and will be displayed in my front yard, at the event and will also be on display at our county fair. The right side is for pledges. Each star represents a child that has raised $100.00 or more in pledges. The total would be $7,000.00 in pledged money. “A Special Wish” spent an average of $3,500.00 granting a wish last year. We want to raise enough to split the monies between the two organizations and be able to pay for one wish. The large star will be lit after we reach our goal and remain lit until after our county fair July 26, 2008.
The left side is for sponsors. Each star represents a $50.00 donation to cover expenses for the event, ie the cost to purchase a shirt, award, certificate and lunch for each participant (see attachment titled “Event Expenses”). You can purchase as many stars as you wish. You can or one of our kids will decorate the star with your name on it. Your name will also be displayed in the center section. We will also with your permission add your name to our sponsor’s page on our website with a link to your website if you have one. Also any monies donated for expenses that are not used will be added to the pledge total. Checks should be made out to “Kids 4 Kids” and mailed to:
